Hyaluronic acid is a natural compound, normally present in the human body, which is why no pre-procedure allergy test is required. It is a widely distributed non-sulphate glycosaminoglycan, largely spread in the conjunctive, epithelial and nervous tissues. This compound attracts water, moisturizes the skin at the injected site and increases the volume.
Hyaluronic acid is a filler that ensures immediate results by increasing the volume where it is injected, either for the correction of wrinkles or grooves or for increasing the lips volume, cheekbones or for the treatment of dark circles.
There are different products classified as hyaluronic acid fillers: Juvederm, Teosyal, Retylane, etc.
Juvederm is a dermal filler with hyaluronic acid, approved by the FDA, which resists in tissues up to one year. It has a lower concentration of cross-linking molecules, resulting in long-lasting results.
In the Juvederm range there are various products: Juvederm ultra 2, Juvederm ultra 3, Juvederm ultra 4, which can be used depending on the injection site and the intended purpose.
The new range of Allergan fillers contains a hyaluronic acid whose matrix is interconnected more than any other filler created before. The split-up process of this product is much longer than conventional products. This makes the three generation IV products more durable over time.
These products, all based on Vycross technology are Volbella, Voluma, Volux and Vollift. These fillers have special characteristics and are recommended for the treatment of specific areas:
Juvederm Voluma – was created to regain lost volume, for example, in the case of cheekbones. Of the three fillers, it has the longest action time and the most powerful lifting effect.
Juvederm Vollift – is ideal for filling, smoothing or rejuvenating areas such as nasogenian grooves. It has a double action time compared to conventional fillers.
Volbella Juvederm – is ideal for the treatment of peribuccal wrinkles and mouth contour. Hyaluronic acid in this product is so soft and malleable, which gives the lips freshness and youth by restoring the lost volume, if used properly.
Juvederm Tolux – is dedicated to restoring and creating volume in the region of the chin and mandible line.
The injection procedure takes about 15-30 minutes and an anesthetic mixture is usually used to reduce discomfort.
The injection results are immediate, with little or no recovery time. However, if you have an important event, it is preferable to schedule the treatment with hyaluronic acid at least one week in advance so that any ecchymosis or small swelling to remit.
