Body contouring surgery encompasses a number of different body sculpting techniques used by cosmetic surgeons to reshape almost any area of the body. Through body sculpting surgery, patients can effectively eliminate excess fat and skin that are unresponsive to diet and exercise.
Most patients who have lost over 40 kg after bariatric procedures have excess skin and fat deposits, important unsightly appearance that creates an unbalanced silhouette. Areas typically affected are the face, arms, breasts, abdomen, thighs and buttocks.
The patient can choose to have multiple operations in a single session (where the operating team is complex) or to perform these operations staged, in which case the interval between stages will be several months.
The most common procedures are: facelift, arms lift, breast lift, abdominoplasty, thigh lift and buttocks lift. Liposuction/liposculpture can be used to reduce fat deposits in specific areas.
“Belt lipectomy” is the procedure that addresses the excess skin in the lower half of the body. Excess skin in the abdomen, buttocks, waist is treated with a circumferential incision around the waist. It may be associated with the thighs lift.
Postoperatively it is recommended to wear elastic garments for a period of 4-6 weeks.
Although the disadvantage of these operations is the significant scars, the satisfaction of patients subjected to such procedures is high, achieving a younger appearance and a self-confidence boost.
